Accessibility

Last updated
28 Jul 2026

Morpht is committed to making Convivial for GovCMS, and this website, accessible to everyone — including people with disability, people using assistive technology, and people on low-bandwidth or older devices.

Accessibility is not a feature we add at the end of a project. It is built into the components, content model and editorial tools that make up Convivial for GovCMS, and it is tested throughout development.

About this statement

This statement applies to the website at govcms.convivial.io.

This site is a demonstration and marketing site for Convivial for GovCMS, a starter site produced by Morpht for the GovCMS platform. It is not a government website and is not affiliated with the GovCMS project.

This statement covers the site's public pages, including the demonstration section. It does not cover:

  • The Morpht corporate website at morpht.com, which publishes its own accessibility information
  • Third-party services embedded in or linked from this site (see Third-party content below)
  • Websites built by agencies using Convivial for GovCMS, which are the responsibility of the agency operating them

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 define requirements for making web content more accessible. Level AA is the minimum standard expected of Australian government digital services under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and guidance issued by the Australian Human Rights Commission.

This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the standard. The known exceptions are listed under Known issues below.

We assess Convivial for GovCMS itself — the theme, components and content model — as meeting WCAG 2.2 Level AA in its default configuration.

Accessibility features of this site

This site is built with Convivial for GovCMS and uses its accessibility features, including:

  • Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements can be reached and operated using a keyboard alone, including the main menu and megamenu
  • Skip links — "Skip to content" and skip-navigation links let keyboard and screen reader users bypass repeated navigation
  • Heading structure — pages use a single H1 and a consistent, logical heading hierarchy
  • Visible focus indicators — focus states meet WCAG 2.2 focus appearance requirements for size and contrast
  • Target sizes — interactive controls meet WCAG 2.2 minimum target size requirements
  • Colour contrast — text and interface components meet or exceed WCAG contrast ratios; the theme's colour palette tools include a built-in contrast checker to prevent editors introducing failures
  • Dark mode — a colour scheme switcher supports users who need reduced brightness or higher contrast
  • Reduced motion — animations and parallax effects are suppressed for users who have set a reduced-motion preference in their operating system
  • Responsive and resizable — content reflows to 320px width and remains usable at 200% zoom without loss of function
  • Alternative text — meaningful images carry descriptive alternative text; decorative images are correctly marked as decorative so screen readers skip them
  • Media alternatives — video and audio content supports captions and transcripts
  • Table of contents — long pages carry a navigable table of contents
  • Print styles — pages print cleanly with navigation and interface elements removed
  • Right-to-left support — layouts adapt for right-to-left languages

We also build accessibility maintenance into the editorial tools: administrators can list content missing alternative text, missing descriptions, or overdue for review, so accessibility problems are found and fixed as part of normal content governance rather than during an audit.

Third-party content

Some functionality on this site is provided by third parties. We do not control the accessibility of these services and cannot guarantee they meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA:

Service Purpose Notes
ReadSpeaker Text-to-speech Third-party service that needs to be procured.
Google Translate Automated page translation Machine translation is not human-verified. Your IP address is shared with Google when this feature is used.

Where a third-party service creates a barrier, please contact us and we will provide the information or service another way.

Getting content in another format

If you cannot access any information on this site, we will provide it in a format that works for you at no cost.

Contact us and tell us:

  • The web address (URL) of the page
  • What information you need
  • The format that would suit you — for example large print, plain text, an accessible document, or a description over the phone

We will respond within 5 business days.

Give us feedback

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of this site and of Convivial for GovCMS. If you find a barrier, please tell us — it helps us fix it for everyone.

  • Email: contact@morpht.com
  • Online: https://www.morpht.com

Please include the page address, a description of the problem, and the browser and assistive technology you were using, if you know it.

We aim to acknowledge feedback within 5 business days and to tell you what we will do about it.

Technical information

This site relies on the following technologies to work with the combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:

  • HTML
  • CSS
  • JavaScript
  • WAI-ARIA
  • SVG

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

How we test

We assess this site and Convivial for GovCMS using a combination of automated and manual testing:

  • Automated testing using Lighthouse, SiteImprove and WAVE to run against a representative set of pages.
  • Manual keyboard testing of all interactive components.
  • Screen reader testing using VoiceOver on macOS/Safari and iOS.
  • Zoom and reflow testing at 200% and 400%, and at 320px viewport width.
  • Colour contrast verification across all supplied colour palettes in both light and dark schemes.

This statement was prepared on 30th July 2026 following self-assessment completed on 30th July 2026.

We review this statement at least annually, and after any significant change to the site.
